A list of different types of questions may come in IELTS Reading test like: Matching heading, True False Not Given/ Yes No Not Given , Matching paragraph information questions, etc. Some techniques related to these questions on how we should search for answers:
- Matching heading β answers do not come in order.
- True False Not Given/ Yes No Not Given β answers come in order
- Matching paragraph information questions β answers do not come in order
Example :
- Summary completion question β answers usually come in order. The summary must be grammatically correct which can help you in choosing the right word for the gap. Identify the type of word needed for each gap (noun/verb/adjective etc).
- Sentence completion question β answers usually come in order. The summary must be grammatically correct which can help you in choosing the right word for the gap. Identify the type of word needed for each gap (noun/verb/adjective etc).
- Multiple choice questions β answers come in order
- List selection β answers come in order (choose the correct option from a list of words, information or names. This differs from multiple choice question because the questions all relate to only one long list of possible answers).
- Choosing a title β pay attention to the opening paragraphs and closing paragraphs of the passage.
- Categorisation questions β answers come in order. (decide which category the information belongs to from a list)
- Matching sentence endings β sentence beginnings follow the order of information of passage. Prepare paraphrases. The complete sentences must be grammatically correct.
- Table completion β answers are usually located in a specific part of the passage.
- Flow chart completion questions β answers do not always come in order.
- Diagram completion questions β answers do not always come in order. Answers are usually located in a specific part of the passage.
- Short answer question β answers come in order. . Identify the type of word needed for each gap (noun/verb/adjective etc).
