The computer itself can not do anything or even remember it. The computer can only do what it is instructed to do. When we do any work on the computer, it seems that the computer is operating automatically, but it is not. There are specific instructions given earlier.
Programming is a medium through which we instruct the computer and tell something to do. For example, by opening a media player, watching a video or browsing websites with an internet browser (opera mini, google chrome, mozilla firefox), all of these operations are guided through computer programming and the instructions we give through programming.
